As I’ve mentioned in a previous post I’ve been a fan of Inov8 running gear for a while now, so when I saw a competition to win some  Inov8 goodies in Trail Running Magazine I had to enter, especially as it involved writing a blog! So all though this was slightly scary because it meant someone else other than myself might read my ramblings I entered, and I was delighted to receive a  message a short while later telling me that I was one of the four lucky winners.

On Wednesday we had a meeting at Trail Running Magazine’s offices in Peterborough where we were given our hoard of Inov8 gear and told about what else was involved in the challenge, and it’s fair to say I was like a small child in a sweet shop! We were then informed that we have been given places in a challenging race later in the year, and will be receiving training from Inov8 athlete Ben Mounsey, I’m super excited about this as in the beginning I kind of threw on some shoes and just started running on my own and have never actually had any proper training before, so i’m looking forward to see what I can achieve after receiving some. After having a photo shoot for the magazine we went out for a run in our new gear, now all though I know they were free which helps, I have to say that straight away I was super impressed with the RocLite 290 shoes, but 4 miles isn’t a marathon so I was interested to see how they perform after more miles in them. It was a great day, and it was great to meet the other competition winners all of whom are really passionate about trail running and really excited about being given this opportunity. We will be appearing in a future issue of Trail Running Magazine so keep an eye out.

Since Wednesday I’ve done more miles in the RocLites’s and I’m still really impressed with them, I would have to say they are the most comfortable shoes that I have ever owned, so much so that I would consider getting another pair for everyday use. In fact I’ve been really impressed with all the gear I received, but then having all ready owned stuff from Inov8 I knew I would be, their attention to detail is top notch. I didn’t think I would be able to wear the RocLites for Trail Marathon Wales in 4 days time as they would need breaking in, but they are that comfy that I have decided to go against all the the rules and wear a new pair of shoes for the race. I can’t believe it’s only 4 days away, I’ve been really looking forward to this race since I first found out about it over a year ago, hopefully I can stay injury free and go out and really enjoy the day. My next blog will be after the race so wish me luck!
